About Yvonne

Raising children can be difficult. I have been working with and advising families with young children for over 20 years. Early intervention with families is my passion, whether relating to developmental challenges or mental health issues. Different ages and stages of childhood can be very challenging for families who are struggling with other issues. However, there are solutions and strategies that can work for you and your situation.

I have a Masters of Counselling degree and participate in ongoing training in therapeutic play, Family Systems Therapy, trauma-informed practice and many other therapeutic methods. Ongoing professional development training and complementary experience allow me to offer families practical and meaningful solutions to their parenting concerns.

I have certification with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, Canadian Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and am completing supervised certification with the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy.

I am devoted to helping young families parents and other caregivers, infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children learn to love and live together more functionally and peacefully. I use many strategies and techniques, such as play therapy, interaction guidance, infant massage, individual and family counselling and parent coaching to help families get back on track.

I can also provide consultation and workshops for programs, agencies and conferences. Some examples of workshops that I have given are:

For Parents:

  1. Parenting the Anxious Child
  2. Laying the Foundation for Positive Self-esteem
  3. Playful Parenting

For Professionals:

  1. Attachment Difficulties in Young Children: Opportunities and Red Flags
  2. The ABCs of Home Visiting
  3. Therapeutic Play
